In the Temple of Doom, Indy’s slashing of the rope bridge that sends a dire moment into something worse (his trademark actually, escaping from one danger to another which is worse). The unappealing meal at the plush Indian Palace where Indy and Willie are served dish after dish of some of the most bizarre foods they have ever seen, topped by the monkey brains still in their craniums (nice special effects). In the Last Crusade, Indiana follows a lead from his father’s grail diary which has him getting into the party with Nazi’s and who else Hitler himself, as they burn books as a sign of the birth of a new race (one of the books is needed by Indy to get the Grail).
The scene which highlighted the dangers of all Indy’s adventures comes in the opening and his having to descend into he Well of Souls which just happened to be filled with snakes of all shapes and sizes which he just so..so hates! In the sewers of Venice when they stumble upon the tomb of one of the Knights of the Holy Grail, they are trapped by the sewer which was first filled with rats from the sea of fire when the cultists who swore to protect his tomb and his secrets set fire to oil which was floating on the surface. They end up in the overturned tomb only to face danger after danger. Watch out for more in the following months as we collate some of the most memorable moments in the legend if Indiana Jones.
The movie has very nicely done climactic endings which were complemented by memorable moments when Indy always won and made his mark. In the one of the most memorable movie scenes, he is being chased by a big round boulder as he runs for his life in the Temple of Doom as he ducks, jumps as he tries to escape being rolled to death. The next scene has the greedy Germans melting as they stare into the Ark of the Covenant which contained the wrath of GOD which killed all who saw it. The Ark of the Covenant is stored in a warehouse, assigned a code then placed with the other relics in storage. In Raiders of the Lost Ark again, the sword fight that ended before it began with a shot expert swordsman which is recognized to be one of the most hilarious scenes in all the movies.
The scene where Indiana Jones was determined to blow up the Ark with a bazooka was the same place where R2-D2 was zapped by the marauding Jawas in Star Wars. In the scene where he went into the Well of Souls where there were snakes of all shapes and sizes, the crew had to go through all the pet shops in London just to make the shot more realistic but couldn’t find enough. Spielberg had hoses cut to length to play dummy snakes which was shot with the true eye for none seemed hose-like at all. The snake that Indiana Jones came face to face with as he fell into the well was a true cobra, which was separated from him by a sheet of glass which was nice for it did spray venom onto the glass! The shot was also so well done the glass doesn’t even show!
Spielberg wrote the script to one of his best works in between takes, writing them down with Melissa Mathison, the film to be? ET!
One of the most memorable moments which makes Raiders of the Lost Ark one of the best action/adventure movies of all time, is the scene when Indy realizes a mistake has been made in the estimates his enemies have done with regards to the actual location of the Well of Souls, which he quickly resolves as he thinks (no dialogues spoken for he sneaked into the room, any noise would alert the enemy of his presence) solves the problem and finds the answer all in one scene that didn’t even have any words. Those were some of the most memorable moments in the adventures of the man, the legend that is Indiana Jones.
