srjr.jpgThe last scene when Indiana Jones’s father was shot, Sean Connery (Indy’s father who just happened to play James Bond) was shot with a Walther PPK, the side arm of the MI6 Agent. The uniforms the Nazi’s wore in the Berlin scene were in fact authentic Nazi uniforms which were recently discovered in Germany in time to be used in the film. The Rats in the sewer scene were bred specially for the movie for street rats would have been loaded with disease and thousands of mechanical rats were also thrown into the fray to give the vision of true rat mayhem. The third and supposedly last film was the only time the whole name of Indiana Jones was revealed as Henry Jones Jr. The birds Dr. Jones (Senior) scared with his umbrella to fly and stop the plane were not seagulls but pigeons with many cut-out (cardboard ones) in the sand that didn’t even move. The horse Indiana used in the movie was also used in the movie Rambo 3.

One last thing, the clothes worn by Indiana Jones in the three films that are in display in the Smithsonian’s museum of natural history, they’re to be returned when the movie needs them for the next film coming soon…very soon.

stunt.jpgThe stunning action with the rolling stone and all the stunts were all unparalleled and so realistic many who saw them hung at the edge of their seats as they screamed and laughed as scene after scene gave viewers the thrill of their lives. The scene with the Ark being stored as the story ends, is actually a painting on glass through which the forklift and other real aspects were filmed through gaps in the paint. Harrison Ford did most (aside for the most dangerous ones where any of his three stand-ins took his place for his death would signify the end of the film and the legend) if not all the stunts in most of his films which may have added reality and excitement to most of his films which he takes pride in. The almost seamless action and all the stunts do make for one of the best action/adventure films of all time.

indyark.jpgThe movies used some of the latest technology had to offer during the time and some of the most innovative works resulted in some of the most stunning special effects that have ever been seen, well before CGI ruined the fine art of the illusionist. Most of the movies included sets that were so elaborate they took months to create. In the Raiders of the Lost Ark, visual artists were able to make ghosts and spirits move like the real thing (as if they were real) before any computers did any overlaying of images the computer made onto the films.

hisler.JPGAs he looks for the book that would lead him to his father then the Holy Grail, Indy knocks a soldier unconscious, turns around and finds himself facing Hitler who gladly signs his father’s grail diary unsuspecting he was facing the very man who was responsible for his losing the war. Many holy relics were superstition to have great powers, one of which was to give dominance to the one who has them over all other men, Indy took the Ark from the Nazis in the Raiders movie which resulted in the loss of the war for Hitler’s Nazi Germany.

tulay.JPGIn the Temple of Doom, Indy’s slashing of the rope bridge that sends a dire moment into something worse (his trademark actually, escaping from one danger to another which is worse). The unappealing meal at the plush Indian Palace where Indy and Willie are served dish after dish of some of the most bizarre foods they have ever seen, topped by the monkey brains still in their craniums (nice special effects). In the Last Crusade, Indiana follows a lead from his father’s grail diary which has him getting into the party with Nazi’s and who else Hitler himself, as they burn books as a sign of the birth of a new race (one of the books is needed by Indy to get the Grail).

net.jpgThe widget hit the web containing trailers of the new and three older films as well as some photos, a chance to enter a contest and news regarding the upcoming film. Much anticipated, it can be seen that the studio has gone through the maximization of technology for marketing and publicity and none could be more high-tech than the Internet. Many say the film will flop yet many also say it’s about time they came up with another one. Lucas says he’s been working on the film’s plot for 10 years and he thinks this will be his last. We’ll see, as our favorite adventure comic hits the silver screens again in the legend that is Indiana Jones in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Harrison Ford may no longer be as dashing nor as young as Narnia’s Prince Caspian, but the iconic actor still proves that he is still in for the ladies when Indiana Jones: The kingdom of the crystal skull earned as much as 152 million dollars on its first week in North America beating its Disney competitor by a speed of light. Released 19 years after the first blockbuster trilogy, Ford proves that he still has what it takes to have a blockbuster come back even at his current age. Despite the movie’s success, Ford makes it clear that there will no longer be a 5th installment to the movie.

lucas.jpgThe writer has said that he is ending the series but many still speculate on the future of Indiana Jones. A combination of Lucas’s writing and Direction by Spielberg has made for one of the most top grossing films of all time reaching more than a billion dollars in the box office and video sales. The film continues to entice moviegoers to watch and the character (Harrison Ford) has become an older man than the last film which makes the film’s appeal all the more powerful. Kids love adventure and will love this installment for Lucas says it’s the best one yet (after writing all the previous ones).
